“Starbucks-China” Blend: A Slam Dunk Grande

Admittedly, there are few genuine “can’t miss” propositions. But I’ve got one for you, Starbucks in China. Giant corporations being granted carte blanche in a totalitarian environment are reminiscent of an age when kings granted exclusive licensing for fur trapping. Starbucks has the product, the relationships, and with some nimble campaigning they’ll have the ubiquitous branding in no time. It will be game, set, match – if it isn’t already.

Golf and How to Start Playing the Greatest Sport

2212064565 b1900963b8 m Golf and How to Start Playing the Greatest Sport photo by camflan.

When I bought my wholesale golf clubs, I wasn’t really certain exactly how much I was going to enjoy the game. I understood that it was a sport that consisted of getting a bantam ball into a pocket in the ground using assorted kinds of clubs, and in the smallest number of totals of stroke possible. I knew that the starting area was identified as the tee, and the well kept grass area where the ball sinks into the hole was known as the green. And, what I liked best of all was the idea that I was going to be playing in the open air, in beautiful and natural surroundings. I liked the actuality that each player set his or her own tempo, defying one’s own capacity. Fundamentally, participant does not play against anyone, merely oneself. The game is characterized by means of something called a handicap system, a method that allows one to compete on an equivalent basis, balancing every player deficiencies.

At first glimpse it didn’t appear to me that golfing was a sport which called for a good deal exertion and with modest or no physical exertion; nonetheless, trucking more than three miles of uneven ground is most definitely a great workout. Golf entails a set of standards as well as modesty, sacrifice, reliability as well as patience, all of which are greatly appreciated and encouraging. It is a sport that can be played during any season of the year and at all ages, beginning from early childhood or well into later life. Now that I found myself on the golf course shoulder to shoulder with vintage golfers, I wondered if the whole sale golf clubs that I had purchased were the correct clubs for me. They looked just as good as everyone else’s. My set was regular; with True Temper Steele Shafts and I got a great deal since Tiger Woods wasn’t paid a fortune to star in an ad. My driver was titanium and my trainer inquired if it was a Calloway. The irons I had were 17-4 Stainless Steel, the same class the pros use.

After much patience and a few classes at the club, I participated in a nine hole scramble with one team. The principle discussion on the fairway was: golf clubs wholesalers. Given that golf is a sport with a lot of skill, I wondered if the wholesale clubs that I had purchased were made fun of by the “pros” playing by my side. In the meantime my partner missed a par putt that ended up right besides the hole, one of my challengers took a club from his bag and said, “Been playing since I was ten. My granddad purchased me some hand-me-down clubs, clubs that I played with un until a few years ago. Got myself these wholesale golf clubs as a gift for my 40th birthday. It was difficult to give up playing with Granddad’s vintage clubs, a kind of heartrending, you know? But hey, I just kicked your ass with my wholesalers. What do you think about that?”

I reflected that it was the best news ever since I’d bought wholesale golf clubs when I knew zero about the game. Now that I understand how to play and am participating in a few tournaments, and getting advice from vintage golf athletes, undoubtedly I made the right choice in the incredible wholesale clubs that had boughtfor much less than name brand prices. Now, I know how to play and love each second of it!

The Golf Balls You Choose Can Enhance Your Game

On the outside most golf balls look pretty much the same, but the contents inside of an individual ball can be completely different. The inside of a golf ball can determine which ball is right for you as a beginner, intermediate or experienced player.

Choose golf balls for better performance

One of the most important things to check for when buying golf balls is the compression rate. The compression rate affects how your ball performs on the course. A higher compression rate is the best choice for an experienced golfer. The compression rates of golf balls usually range from 70 to 110, depending on the manufacturer. You can usually find information about the compression composition on the side of the package, or small numbers marked directly on the balls.

Figuring out the numbers

So how do you read the numbers to choose the best golf balls? A ball with a 70 rate of compression will be one of the softer balls you can purchase, while balls around 110 are much harder. As soon as your club hits the golf ball, the ball actually becomes flat at the moment of impact. Golf balls that flatten easily are softer, like a 70 rate compression ball. Balls with a higher rate of compression, around 110, are much harder and take a lot more energy and power in your swing to flatten on impact.

New or used?

The great news is that there are golf balls to fit every level of expertise, and every budget. You can choose used brand new golf balls, used or recycled balls. Most of these balls are left lying around the course following a few games. What many don’t know is that you can actually find quality rated used and recycled balls. For example, if you like brand names like Titleist, Nike, Calloway or Maxfli, used or recycled balls with a high quality rating are a steal. Imagine paying half of the cost of a $58.00 package of balls that look and perform exactly the same on the course. Used golf balls are easy to find. There are many merchants who only sell used balls and nothing else.

Logo and custom balls

Logo and custom golf balls make great gifts for golf lovers around birthdays and holidays. What could be more impressive than receiving your own set of balls personalized with your company logo, name, initials or college mascot? Golf balls can be customized in just about any way you can imagine.

Each year golfers end up spending hundreds of dollars on balls and other equipment attempting to do what the pros do. There are hundreds of different golf balls available in a variety of prices. If you are an average golfer, the smartest thing to do is start off with less expensive used balls and work your way up to the high performance brand names. Pay attention to the rating system to make sure you get quality rated balls that deliver good performance. The only real difference you will notice is that quality used golf balls will keep more money in your pocket.

Exceptional Golf Courses of the World: The Royal Dornoch Golf Club of Sutherland Scotland

2212855474 f285b2cae4 m Exceptional Golf Courses of the World: The Royal Dornoch Golf Club of Sutherland Scotland photo by camflan.

The Royal Dornoch Golf Club of Sutherland Scotland’s history goes as far back as “the Dornoch Links” in the cost of the golf clubs and golf balls belonging to the young Earl of Sutherland in the time period of year of 1616. Its amazing that over all the millennia how little has changed in the minds and mentality of golfers , fellow golfers and those in charge of golf courses and their administration.

The description of the area surrounding the Dornoch Links at the time was “About this town along the sea coast are the fairest and largest links or green fields in any part of Scotland. Fitt for archery, golfing, ryding and all other sorts of exercises they doe surpass the fields of Monroe or St. Andrews”.

To this day the Royal Dornoch can be said to place consistently in among the top 100 of the greatest golf courses of the world.

It seems from the initial records of the course and young Earl of Sutherland’s golf equipment not much was recorded or noted until 1852, when George Dempster of Skibo, a St. Andrew’s golfer, played a round with a party over the Dernoch Links. Sometime in the time interval between the years of 1616 and 1852, the Sutherland Golfing Society was established, its members played at both the Dornoch and Golspie.

The Dornoch Links were at this early point only nine holes in extent. These original links were formed in much the same primal way as the “Old Course” at St. Andrews: an Ice Age glacier carved the land and deposited sand dunes which, over time were stabilized by the growth of seaside grasses, and finer grassy texture was added via inland grass seeds deposited on the linkland via the wooly coats of grazing sheep.

In 1883, the legendary “Old Tom” Morris came up from St. Andrews to lay out a formal nine holes. In 1866, at the direction of John Sutherland, another nine holes were added to the golfing course, and thus Dornoch now had 18 holes in its golf setup, as per the standard set at the St. Andrews golf course 122 years earlier.

Thus Dornoch not only was growing in the size of its golf course, but also in reputation. In 1894 it held its first golfing competition – the tournaments of their time.

28 men from Moray met 28 golfers from Dornoch at the Dornoch links. The Dornoch golfing team went on to solidly defeat their visitors 246 holes to none. Even more importantly the Moray men did not only take the defeat as not only a case of playing on home ground, but rather that the Dornoch course was anything but impressive. Indeed the historic report recorded was the “the links surpassed anything we imagined. The turf is of excellent quality. Everyone was charmed with the course”.

Thus it is no accident that the Royal Dornoch Golf Club at Sutherland in Scotland merits such a reputation – both as the historic golf course, and also has continued on with its fine reputation to be always regarded as one of the top 100 golf courses in the world. It’s no accident and it’s no accident that the greatest dream of many golf aficionados and golfers generally is to play and be challenged by this fine golf course which has always commanded great respect and merit.

Golf And Golfing For Beginners – Your Basic Golfing Bag

Now that you “have taken up” the social sport of golf you may well have a couple of questions. Golf and golf is a most terrific social sport. You get to while away hours, conferring with the golf greens as well as your friends on the golf course. It’s a wonderful, relaxing pastime. As well many of business’s “big deals” and business contacts can well be made golfing and on the golf course as well in the golf course clubhouse.

Now that you have decided to enroll in the pastime of golf what indeed are the basics of golf?

To begin with w standard set of golf and golfing clubs includes three “woods” golf clubs. These three woods or “drivers” comprise the “driver”, “three-wood” and “five-wood”. Next in line, in the description of standard golf clubs are the “irons”. The groups of the “irons” group of golf clubs generally are composed of the three-iron, five-iron, six-iron, seven-iron, eight-iron, nine-iron, pitching wedge and finally the all famous golf club, with which to make your final shot into the golf cup on the golf green.

According the strict rules of golf you cannot carry more than fourteen clubs in your personal golf bag. This is a very strict and enforced rule of the game and sport of golf. You cannot carry more than the maximum allotted number of fourteen golf clubs in your golf bag – even if you never ever use those extra clubs. It can be said that often more experienced and advanced golf players mix and match here and there with extra , non of the mill , non standard golf clubs , for example a one-iron or a seven wood. However in these cases the sum total maximum of the golf clubs in their bag adds up to 14 golf clubs. As a newcomer or beginner golf player it is always best to start your golf career with the standard , simple array of golf clubs that are used by most golfers. Why make life, and your golf career, complex for yourself, unnecessarily.

The woods have the longest shafts of any golf club in your bag. The golf wood clubs are designed to simply hit the golf ball either from a small wooden peg, called the tee, which elevates the ball slightly. You can only use a “tee” in the tee-box at the start of a golf hole. Next you can hit the golf on a flat surface of the golf course, like the fairway. The “wood” golf clubs are made and designed to hit the ball a long, long way. Accuracy of the hit of the golf ball is less of an issue here. Woods obtained their name as they used to be made of persimmon wood itself. While some of these clubs are still made the old way, out of actual persimmon wood, most now are made out of metal – generally steel or better yet titanium. Some golfing fanatics will tell you that the permission based woods gives these golfers “more control” on the golf course. Again as a beginner golfer why complicate your life unnecessarily. Start with standard metal woods. In addition maintenance and care of these clubs is easier.

Like woods the irons are mismatched. These groups of golf clubs are not made out of iron but mostly of steel, titanium and with higher end iron utilizing high tech graphite materials in their structures as well. Irons with the smallest numbers, like the three-iron or the four-iron, have the longest shafts and are designed to hit the golf ball lower and further, and like the woods, with less accuracy. Shafts get shorter as the numbers printed on the sole get bigger and larger, until you get to the “Sand Wedge”. The sand wedge is the shortest club in the golf bag. The standard sand wedge has a 34 inch shaft, which is eight inches shorter than a standard driver shaft. The shortest clubs, like the nine irons, pitching wedge, and sand wedge are designed for accuracy, not distance. An optimum shot with a pitching wedge flies high in the air and lands softly, without much roll. That way you can aim right at the hole. Indeed golf professionals often call their wedges “money clubs” since these pro golfers cannot win the high end golf tournaments unless they can hit the ball so close to the hole that they are in with only a very few putts.

Lastly you will find that because these shafts are so much shorter and are designed to get your golf ball into the air, you will find that you will generally have your most success as a new and budding golf aficionado with your nine-iron and pitching wedge. These are very good clubs to practice when you are first starting out. You will soon discover what a great golf shot is supposed to feel and look like. Keep practicing with these two clubs because when you finally make it onto the golf course, these will be the clubs that will save you many a golf shot and lower your golf score.
